COVID-19: Tips For Safely Attending Networking Events

The coronavirus outbreak has impacted many aspects of our personal and professional lives this year, including the way we network with colleagues. While the virus has changed the way in-person events are held, it’s still important to attend industry events to learn the latest fleet trends and exchange ideas with peers.

If you have concerns over how to attend these events safely, use the following tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to stay healthy while attending networking events.

Contact the Event Organizers: If you’re concerned about your safety at an event, reach out to the event organizers to ask what safety precautions will be put in place. This will let you know what to expect so you can determine if you’re comfortable attending the event. If you’re attending RTA Connect 2021 in Las Vegas, you can access The Luxor’s safety plan here. You can also reach out to our staff to ask any questions you might have!

Wear a Mask: The CDC recommends wearing a cloth face covering when around others in public settings. It’s especially important to wear a mask in situations where you will be around a large number of people or when social distancing may be difficult.

Wash Your Hands: Make sure you wash your hands frequently, especially when touching shared surfaces like door handles or tables. You can also use hand sanitizer if you don’t have easy access to soap and water during the event.

Maintain a Safe Distance from Other Attendees: The CDC recommends keeping a 6-foot distance between yourself and others to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Cover Your Cough or Sneeze: The CDC suggests covering a cough or sneeze with a tissue or the crook of your elbow to help limit the spread of germs.

Don’t Attend If You Don’t Feel Well: For your safety and others’, it’s important to stay home if you are not feeling well. Even if you do not have COVID-19 symptoms, it’s best to not risk your own health or spreading an illness of any kind to others at the event.

Attend Virtually: If you are not comfortable attending in-person, or if you are feeling ill, ask the event if there is an option to attend virtually. This year we are offering a virtual option for RTA Connect 2021. This allows you to get the same information and network with your peers from the safety of your home or office.
