3 Most Under-Utilized Tools in RTA

The RTA Fleet Management Software system is robust. Because of its depth, you might not be using all of the tools and features.

Take a closer look at these three tools that you might not be currently using – but might want to start utilizing today.

Parts Requisition

When your inventory levels are reduced, how long does it take your operation to notice parts need to be re-ordered, and then actually re-order them? To make the process easier, utilize the Parts Requisition feature in RTA. The RTA software can track your operation’s inventory level and create requisitions for you when quantities run low. The list of requisitions can be reviewed, and purchase orders can be generated for the parts approved for re-order.

Warranty Claims

Each year, fleet operations can lose thousands of dollars in unclaimed warranties. To avoid losing funds, use the RTA solution to track your parts and vehicle warranties. Once your warranties are set up in the system, the software handles everything else so you don’t have to worry if a part or vehicle is covered under warranty – the system will let you know!

Tracking parts warranties allows your operation to recoup money in part costs, as well as track part failure statistics, predict part failures, analyze performance statistics of like parts from various manufacturers or vendors, and track multiple installations of the same part on a single vehicle or piece of equipment.

In RTA, you can track the following types of vehicle warranties:

  • Bumper-to-bumper offered by original equipment manufacturers (OEM)
  • Extended warranties offered by OEMs and dealers
  • Service warranties for jobs performed by commercial service shops, including transmissions, brakes and tires

Work Orders Template

When your fleet operation creates work orders, are you still entering information on each one – line by line? Instead of entering in repetitive information, use template work orders in the RTA software to add certain work order lines automatically. This can save you and your staff valuable time.

The following jobs are ideal for work order templates:

  • Preventative maintenance services
  • Inspections
  • Brake jobs
  • Engine tune-ups
  • Engine rebuilds
  • Tire repairs
  • Putting a vehicle in-service
  • Component rebuilding
  • Vehicle washes
