How to Get the Most Out of Online Training
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, a lot of training sessions are going online – including here at RTA Fleet Management Software. Whether you are taking our three-day Basic Training class, our three-day Advanced Training class or our one-day Reporting class, we want you to get the most out of these sessions.
To ensure you are maximizing the learning opportunities presented in these classes our trainers provided these tips. Use these and you will master the RTA system in no time during your virtual training session:
- When taking the online class, try to connect to the virtual session in a quiet room with minimal distractions.

- If you are attending the online session with a co-worker, try to log in from a classroom or a conference room so you have a screen that it is large enough for everyone to view comfortably.

- If possible, use two screens. This will let you put our training session on one screen and the RTA system on the other.

- Print out the training manual and workshops so you can easily access them during the class.

- Take notes! This will help when you try to complete tasks in the system after the training session.

- Test the Zoom meeting link before the day of the class to work through any technical issues.

- Ask questions! Just because we are online doesn’t mean you can’t ask questions. Please, ask questions as they come up and we will gladly answer them!
Other tips to consider when attending a training session over Zoom include:
- Mute yourself when you are not talking so any background noise is not picked up on the call. This can be especially important if you are attending the virtual session from your shop.

- If your computer audio quality is poor, you can dial in using your cell phone or desk phone.

- Rename yourself to your preferred name so everyone in the class knows how to refer to you.

- Make connections! Even though you are attending a training session virtually, you can still form connections with others in the class. Exchange contact information so you can connect afterwards. Your peers can be great resources going forward.
